2012 Primary Election: Delegate to the Republican Convention, Pennsylvania 12th District

Ann Wilson and Jane Gleason of Cambria County, Lidia Turzai of Allegheny County, and Jill Cooper of Westmoreland County defeated six other candidates to become delegates to the Republican National Convention representing Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District.  The other candidates, in order of their finish, were Mike McMullen, Dave Majernik, Jeannette Pavlick, Stephen LaPorta, Larry Borland, and Christopher Fromme.

2012 Primary Election: U.S. Congress, Pennsylvania 12th District

In a contest between two incumbent Congressmen forced by population loss and redistricting, Mark Critz defeated Jason Altmire for the Democratic nomination and will face off against Republican challenger Keith Rothfus in the general election in November.  Congressman Critz's victory came largely as a result of high totals in the eastern part of the 12th district that he represented before the districts were merged.

2012 Primary Election: U.S. Senate Republican Primary

Businessman Tom Smith defeated former State Representative Sam Rohrer, entrepreneur Steve Welch, veteran David Christian, and former Santorum aide Marc Scaringi to claim the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate and the chance to face incumbent Bob Casey in the fall.

2012 Primary Election: PA Senate 37th Senatorial District

Republican voters soundly rejected State Representative Mark Mustio's negative advertisements against former Mt. Lebanon Commissioner and County Executive Candidate D. Raja, nominating Raja with 43.56% of the vote compared to Mustio's third-place finish with 24.66%.

2012 Primary Election: PA House 16th Legislative District

Bellevue Borough Councilwoman (and President from 2008-2011) Kathy Coder faced off against Ambridge Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jeremy Angus for the Republican nomination for the Pennsylvania House of Representative's 16th District.  In a hard-fought but positive race between two excellent candidates, Kathy Coder pulled out an impressive victory by a margin of almost two to one.
